Corneal Disease£ºAs one of the factors causing blindness, corneal disease is commonly found in clinical ophthalmology due to its special position in the eye and totally exposed to the air. The non-vessel structure of cornea generates very little antibody and leads to weak anti-infecting ability as well as poor nutrition supply. Once attacked by microorganism, infection is hardly avoidable. Slow pathologic process and post-heal scar usually make passive affections on patient's vision.

Corneal Scar£ºWhile corneal ulcer nearly healed, connective tissue proliferates and renovates corneal default and generates corneal scar. For those with small and shallow ulcer, cornea may be recovered completely transparent, while to those whose anterior resilience tissue and deeper corneal tissue are affected, thick scar is unavoidable. Scar fading is likely seen in one's babyhood, whereas older individuals could never escape from permanent scars, which induce unclear vision. The deeper the ulcer is, the thicker the scar should be. According to the severity, corneal scar includes nebula, macula and leukoma. The most severe symptom, leukoma, affects not only patients' vision but also their appearance.
